2013 Fox CTD Float

I ended up ordering a Fox CTD Evolution rear shock from probikesupply.com

They gave me a great deal, and they have a local shop here that I can go to and get it tuned if need to.

Unfortunately I wont get it until next week, but this thing looks pretty awesome.

I ordered the 6.5 x 1.5 for my Hollowpoint.

UPDATE - According to Fox, they are all out of stock and wont have any to ship out until October 15th!  What a bummer!

Derrailer Hanger

Our friend ate shit pretty hard in Big Bear and broke his derrailer hanger towards the end of the first run, and that ended his day.

Got me thinking I should definitely carry a spare just in case.  Ordered a "Wheels Manufacturing" hanger (#74) for $20, and I liked the black color better than silver, so I put it on and kept old one as a trail spare.  In the process, I got some practice on how to do it, in case i ever need to on the trail.

Spin Doctor chain ring nut tool really helped get that little nut and bolt tightened properly

Hollowpoint rear suspension travel settings

I knew my Hollowpoint had a long travel and a short travel rear shock setting, I just wasnt sure which was which.

Short travel setting -  3.75" of travel - Uses top bolt (this is how my bike came)

Long Travel setting - 4.5" of travel - Using lower bolt

I ended up switching to the longer travel mode and it feels much better.  Not sure why it took me so long to figure it out, but free suspension travel is usually always good.  I feel much faster and in better control.  I'm sure it will be even better when i get my Fox CTD float.

Rear Shock is Dead

I think my rear shock blew out during the Big Bear trip.  Its leaking fluid and not holding air.

Its 9 years old, i could try to replace the seals, but most likely its time for a new one.

I'm looking at getting a Fox RL float or a CTD.  Both cost way too much money, hopefully I can get one this week.

Big Bear - Snow Summit

We went to Snow Summit in Big Bear last weekend and had a blast.

Payed $25 for a day lift ticket and did our first run.  Pine Knott i believe was the first trail, took about 2 hours maybe.  Lots of fun, very little climbing and lots of single track downhill.

Our friend ate it pretty hard, bent his front wheel and broke a rear derraileur at the end of the trail.

We had to ride back and get the car then pick him up.  After we picked him up, two of us took a second run and it just started pouring on us.  We were soaked from head to toe and the trails were starting to get pretty deep rapids of mud, what a blast that was.  Cant wait to do it again, we are planning on going back next month.

A year later

2004 Hollowpoint Sport

Fox RL Fork
Roval Thru Axle Front wheel
Easton Carbon Monkey Lite bar
Easton EA70 Stem
Easton EA70 Seat post
Crank Brothers Grips
Crank Brothers Candy 2 Pedals
Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes
Avid HS1 Rotors 160mm
Maxxis Highroller tires
Tubeless front

Bike has come a long way.  I upgraded the brakes, got an awesome gift from my friend, the Fox fork and wheel with the thru axle with it.  Also upgraded to carbon handlebars, Easton EA-70 stem and seatpost, and Crank Brothers Candy 2 pedals and grips.

As far as riding, we go once a week and after a year im a little better, but i still have no endurance, i suck at climbing.
